Departures, Reunions, and NEW SHOES!

If anyone didn't already hear, Chris Cornell left Audioslave, and apparently it was on pretty crumby terms. The guys weren't going in the same direction with their music, and it's very true that conflict does not necessarily make a better band--not at all. I'm a big Audioslave fan, so the news was disappointing in a sense. I'm mostly disappointed in the fact that it fell apart as it did. This was a worry of mine for a while, and I think one of their issues was probably that Chris didn't want Audioslave to be a political vehicle. Oh well, at least Revelations was as amazing as Out of Exile and Audioslave, they went out on top.

Chris has an album coming in May, and Morello apparently has something in the works. All the pieces are falling together for a Rage reunion. Zack hasn't been big in the music industry since RATM, and I think it'd be awesome if the guys would get back together. They are literally bathing in material since their last original work in 1999.

On a positive note, I got new shoes yesterday. http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/17343251/c/17248.html

In White/Red/Black.

They were $110-120 but I got $30 off so it was around $90. You can tell in the quality. I don't listen to G-Unit, but I really love that design with that combination of colors.

I found my ring! OH! And Marianas Trench FTW

There seems to be a happy ending to everything. The universe seems to have a way of bringing things back into balance eventually.

Yesterday was going extremely well, I shopped all day with my mother. When I got home I noticed my gold onyx ring(which was a gift from her) was missing. I looked everywhere; outside, the car, even in the vaccum cleaner bag--to no avail. I didn't sleep last night because of it, it really put me through a rollercoaster of emotions. I thought I may have lost it in the parking lot of the restaurant we went to, so I asked my mother to stop by there today and look for it. Maybe ask if I left it inside the restaurant. Both these things I doubted, but the feeling that it was lost forever or that someone took it for themself just killed me.

It turns out that, like many things in life, there is a happy ending. My mother found it somewhere in the car, entrenched deep between the seats. When I saw the ring I was extremely relieved. That whole thing ruined my day. I'm really happy that I have it back. I'm shocked at how much that ring actually means to me, I was somewhat startled by my reactions to the situation.

Other than that, I have discovered a fantastic Canadian band called Marianas Trench. They're sort of a rock/pop punk hybrid. The band consists of only four members, but interestingly enough they are all professionally trained vocalists--which is sort of rare. It shows in their harmonies. But they also come up with some really sweet hooks, their album is really catchy. I already love it, and I've only had it since yesterday. I'm really happy I bought it.

They might be on their way to being one of my favorite bands. I hope the album is selling well. I hope to see more from them in the future!

"Broken Wings"

"Fight the fight alone
When the world is full of victims
Dims a fading light
In our souls

Leave the peace alone
How we all are slowly changing
Dims a fading light
In our souls

In my opinion seeing is to know
The things we hold
Are always first to go
And who's to say
We won't end up alone

On broken wings I'm falling
And it won't be long
The skin on me is burning
By the fires of the sun
On skinned knees
I'm bleeding
And it won't be long
I've got to find that meaning
I'll search for so long

Cry ourselves to sleep
We will sleep alone forever
Will you lay me down
In the same place with all I love

Mend the broken homes
Care for them they are our brothers
Save the fading light in our souls

In my opinion seeing is to know
What you give
Will always carry you
And who's to say
We won't survive it too

Set a-free all
Relying on their will
To make me all that I am
And all that I'll be

Set a-free all
Will fall between the cracks
With memories of all that I am
And all that I'll be"

I think this song is fantastic. My interpretation: We have become selfish in lacking care for eachother. There are so many to help, yet we do not help them. Despite the fact that such actions would fulfill us emotionally(therefore being of personal benefit), we do not reach out.  After events like 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina, not enough of us have taken action in the interest of bettering the souls affected. Slowly the standards established by generations past  fade away, successively dimming the light in our souls. Ultimately our fate is that of ultimate darkness; dying alone.

What have we become?

I'm finding that, despite the fact that something is clearly so, and you provide sufficient evidence or proof of such, people will many times tell you that it's just your viewpoint. Just your opinion. What you are then doing is allowing for disinformation to run rampant. From the media misquoting foreign political figures to the general public completely ignoring the important evidence that vindicates them.

Again and again I find myself without the words to describe how much ignorance has taken over. Those who are ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it, and I think that's exactly what's happening to us. We're continually proving our incompetence at every level. Does anyone ask themselves the question, 'why do I find it a chore to think for myself?' I think we're slaves to convenience. We have it so great in the west, so many have turned into decadent scum.

Watch Out!

At least there is no knowledge in death.......

I'm never having more than one Bacardi Breezer ever again.......

But anyway, I found out last night that my uncle's house and motorhome(that was sitting close enough to become engulfed, apparently) burnt down. He was renting this old trailer, which apparently had a faulty furnace because it was the supposedly the cause. This is bad news, and we can remedy him in various ways, but we cannot bring his dog back. Sam was his name, he was a Pomeranian.
